Meet Ang'Jolie

Ang'Jolie was found in a very bad neighborhood - she had been abused and was blind.  She also was nothing but bones and would not let anyone touch her.  She would literally freak and spasm if anyone came near her.  She was taken in by a friend of ours and a fellow rescuer.  She was unable to get close to her at all and would not eat.  I took to going by there to try and feed her and while babysitting I managed to spend five hours trimming her hair and feed her with a syringe.  It was interesting cutting her hair as she had very long brown and black hair but as I trimmed away (we could not use clippers as she spasmed and went into seizures every time I tried.  Five hours later I had a white dog with a little brown on her ears and laughed.  The whole time I trimmed her I sang a song that came to mind.  It went like this.  My little Ang'Jolie (beautiful angel) pretty as can be...god sent her from above...sent her for me to love....my little ang jolie. Thus her name came about and she came to live at the Sanctuary.  In three months she now knows her name.  Loves to be held by me but still freaks with others.  I think its the song.  At the vets Tina told the vet that I sang to her and she settled right down.  The vet insisted on muzzling her to check her.  Needless to say the vet no longer sees her - she has a new patient vet that loves her.  Ang'Jolie would not gain weight.  I received a donation of Natural Balance Food Rolls.  I would highly recommend every rescue to keep a supply of these rolls.  I have never seen Ang'Jolie eat so much and I am happy to report she is now up to a little under 5 pounds.  Maybe a few more ounces she will be perfect weight.  Sadly we found that because of the abuse and life Ang'Jolie had before coming to the Sanctuary she had received a moderate amount of brain damage.  Another one of Eddie's angels was here we knew.  Ang'Jolie has many friends including a few cats who she loves to cuddle with and Evan a tiny little Peke who is also blind and has some other health issues.  He too in another of Eddie's Angels who live here and will live out their lives here.  Below are some pictures of Ang'Jolie and some of her friends.

She loves her rides in the stroller donated for her.

Part of Ang'Jolie's treatments are warm salt bathes - when I first read about this I was like yeah right .  The first bath convinced me of the effects it has on her - she literally will fall asleep in a deep relaxed trance when laid on her back and calms immediately when she is on her stomach.  She gets one once a week and they are one of her favorite times.

Ang'Jolie also gets food supplements twice a day - somehow her brain does not send the message to eat and although she tries and will stand there for half an hour eating it is not enough for her system - since the supplements she has gained another two pounds and is a whopping 6 pounds - 4 pounds heavier then when she arrived.  She is much like feeding a puppy these days and will take the syringe full of nutrients like a puppy takes a bottle.

She has many new friends and has become quite social - she has learned to map her way around several rooms and everyone except Ming loves her including Dixe the Boxer and Tchoupitoulis the hybrid.
