MEET RED

Red is a special dog here at the Sanctuary. We received an e-mail from Loretta who told us this boy was going to be put down. One look at the picture below will show you why. Linda, Loretta and I decided this was not going to happen. Red made an appearance on Channel 10 in a story about animal abuse and again the picture below will show you why. Red went to Indian Trace for the day where he was checked and we found out that although we were lucky and he did not have heartworm he was full of parasites and very underweight. He has been with us for a month and has improved enough and socialized enough with people that we feel he is ready for a home of his home. Red will not be adopted to anyone with other animals or very young children. He is great with people and with children but because of his strength we will not adopt to anyone with young children. He is loyal and friendly and will be a great dog for the right family. Pitt experience necessary.

This WAS Red the day we got him from animal control. I always say no dog should every look like this - and no dog should have to be put down when he can be a good companion because of the abuse of its owner. Well keep looking and look at our Red today.

The picture above and below are of Red and Samantha - as you can see he loves kids and is very loving - but he is strong and plays strong.

the picture above and below are of Red during the hurricane - all bundled up and safe

He is up to date with all of his shots, will be neutered 10/26/04 and has been wormed as he was full of them when arriving here. Day by day his physical and emotional wounds heal and we hope soon that they will completely be gone. He is gaining weight daily and doing very very well.

Red continues to grow into a wonderful dog. He is so loving. He loves to carry his food bowl around. Especially when he sees the feed coming. He will grab it and run to the gate. He made fast friends with Michael when he was here working for a month,
