HENRY AND VAN GOGH

October 20, 2007
Shirin called me about Henry - a lab hound mix who had an injury to his penis. This was not an accidental injury. The pictures below are graphic but its the only way to tell his story.
First I will give you the email I received from Shirin:
Thank you all for making this possible. Suzy for
trusting me and helping at the last minute to fax the info. Betsy for spreading
the word and letting the little boy get out, Palena for your ongoing kindness
and caring for the most needy.
We made it to the shelter and Betsy's husband Bert was very sweet and cared for
this injured boy. he helped us get him in the crate and putting it in the car.
Henry is a sweet heart. he is just scared and must feel a great pain. as you see
in the pictures there is a huge cut. He let me kiss him and hug him, I could
tell he was smiling, wagging his tail. the vet said that this was no accident
and some Sick F... had done this to him. he gave him some antibiotics and
something to make him feel more comfortable. the clinic was closed and they will
do the surgery on Monday. he is going to be fine after going through a great
deal of pain. just need some serious loving. His surgery will cost around $400
or less.
When I was on my way to Henry, talking to Betsy on my cell , she told me if I
could help the little pup with a broken leg, some one had cut his ears and
dumped him in the garbage bin. poor thing must have been thrown so hard to break
his leg. he is so sweet and gave me lots of kisses, just needed a mommy! the
bone has been healing in some way since he has
been sitting in the shelter for two weeks. his ears has mostly healed but his
leg still hurts. they are going to take x rays and see what needs to be done.
some one is donating $100 that would cover his x rays at least but I will find
out more on Monday. Betsy named him Vanny short for Van Gogh.
I told Betsy that I have no idea what to do with him since I have not asked
Palena but at least he can get to a vet and they can find out what is wrong with
him and give him some thing for his pain. me and Betsy decided that we can take
it that far and try to figure a way as we go along. but if you Palena could take
him we can get donations towards his surgery( if he needs one). the worst case
is him going back which I would do all I can for it not to happen. I can't ever
take any one to a shelter even if they have to end up in my house!!! She told
them to let
me take him and wanted to help him so bad so she made it possible for him to get
to a vet right away.
Henry

You can see the cut not only damaged the penis but also the shaft itself.

After stitches - we have every reason to believe that Henry will be able to lead a normal life

Henry and Shirin at vets office.
Henry is in Town and Country vet Hospital where he is receiving care from Dr. Good. We are thankful he is saved and will soon be making the trip to the Sanctuary. Thanks to Shirin and her dedication to rescue and to Suzy and Suzy of Saving Georgia Dogs he will lead a great life and hopefully find a home. Any donations for his care should be sent to Town and County - address and phone number below

It amazes me what people will do - why someone would cut this babies ears and then maliciously break his leg is beyond me but then to throw him in a dumpster to die makes my blood curl. We want to thank the staff at Henry County Georgia for calling us on this baby and loving him enough to not only save his life but to get him into rescue.

Scared and afraid

You can see where his ears were cut - can you imagine the pain this little one felt.

Skinny and scared but soon we hope very happy
