Mama and her four little ones

Mamma is a breeder rescue.- She has been over bred - has an eye injury that was never treated and is blind in that eye. Hates people. She has bitten several people but for some reason loves Palena the director of the Sanctuary and is staying in her home now. She has no trust of anyone and will not be able to be adopted. She has been used up and abused. But will have a happy life as soon as the pups are weaned and she can be spayed. At that time she will be worked with to see if she can be socialized with the other animals that live with Palena that all have some sort of physical issue.
She arrived from Missouri on Sunday and puppies were born on Tuesday. She had not even been social with Palena until she heard her scream out in pain. Palena went in there and saw that the last pup to be born was breach with both hind legs pulled sideways - Palena sat down and told Mamma ok well if you are going to bite me that's ok I understand but this pup has to come out or both of you will die and that is not going to happen. Mamma seemed to understand and 5 minutes later the little runt boy was born - he is the loudest of the group and the one that somehow always gets out of the welping box and screams until Palena goes and puts him back in. Mamma is a good mother - and loves her babies. There are three girls and one boy. They are now almost three weeks old - have their eyes open and are fat little bugs who make a lot of noise. They will be adopted in another 4 weeks. Their adoption donation will be 175.00.
Once weaned Mama will have her eye taken and learn to live a life of social behavior. She is a sweet dog who will climb into Palena's lap and give her kisses and two minutes later attack the window where someone is trying to see her. She will learn as they all do - that love is unconditional and no matter what her behavior ends up being in time she will learn to live peacefully with all that live in Palena's house.
