Our first Animal Clinic

On June 26, 2004 the Sanctuary held an animals clinic.  We were overwhelmed by the response.  We treated over 100 dogs.  Besides receiving their yearly vaccines for free they were treated with FrontLine Plus for fleas and ticks, and mange.  Over 1700 pounds of food were distributed to the community as well.  They also received information packages containing health records, supplements and rawhide bones.  It was a great event.

Teri and Larry Reed arrived early to start making the packages and helping to organize the days events.  As soon as the trucks pulled into the area people began arriving and no one sat down or hardly had time to breath until the event as over.

We treated a variety of animals and dogs in all sizes, including the wolf above.

Save the Pets Rescue Coordinator Michelle treats this pit with a dose of Front Line.  Save the Pets also brought information regarding Pit Bulls and their programs to distribute in an effort to educate people on the care of Pit Bulls.  They also are organizing a program for kids for our community projects.

Steve Katz, a Board Member of The Sanctuary spent the day giving shots and talking to owners about responsible care.  He received a lot of hugs and thanks for his efforts and a lot of dog kisses.
Dawn and Michelle talk to a pit bull owner who has a female who had her pups at only 8 months of age.  They make arrangements with owner to help place pups for her.

Tired and hot Dawn and Michele still work to gets shots drawn so others can give shots.
Larry Reed takes a dog to begin treatment as his wife Teri helps others fill out paperwork and stand in line to wait.  We had people waiting up to 45 minutes to have their dogs treated there were so many coming and not enough medicines to treat all that came.  It only makes us more committed to work harder to get more meds donated for next time.

Efren, Larry, Steve and Joseph help a woman with her family of 6 little ones fill out the paper work so treatment can begin.
One of the last dogs treated was this little one who has come back to the Sanctuary.  You can read his story and read about his progress by clicking on his name.  Miho.

We wish to thank the following people and organizations for making this clinic possible.

Gulfstream Guardian Angels Rottweler Rescue

Save the Pets Rescue

Scott and Lana Fuerst

Teri and Larry Reed

Efren Rivera

Fairy Tails Rescue

Indian Trace Animal Hospital

Without their donations this could not have happened.

As we have seen the need with many animals here, we wish to continue doing these clinics and food distribution.  The cost is great.  If you cannot adopt and animal but would like to help animals in need or help fund these clinics please click below and designate your donation for the community clinics.

Also in June we had a visit from Gulfstream Guardian Angels Rottweiler Rescue who came and spent a day with us working on the property - bathing dogs - mowing kennels - and building shelters.  We thank each and everyone of them for their hard work and support of the Sanctuary.
Grace above bathes our baby Guigi.  He loves the water and loves to show off and Grace knows just how to make him pose.

Virginia puts all her muscle into building the flooring for one of the shelters...it was a lot of hard work and the sun was scorching.

Tracy never hesitated nor took a break from the time he got there until the time he left.  He also came back the following week to build more shelters for the animals.  Truly a guardian angel indeed.
Cathy, Tracy Virginia and Sylvia set out the plans and designs to build the shelters.
Steve, Sylvia and Virginia finish the flooring and begin the roof area.
Mama Grace mows the front kennel and seems to be enjoying driving the tractor.
Steve and Grace bath Piper who seems to be enjoying the cool water on the hot day.  All the dogs love their pools but this added attention I am sure is making them feel pampered.

Gulfstream took more pictures and wrote their own story please visit below.  Also if you are interested in a rottweiler to grace your home, please visit their rescue site (www.ggarr.org) to see the animals that they have in need of good homes.

And here is the finished project!

But it does not end there.  Tracy and Debbie-Lynn called and said they would like to come out again and do some work for the Sanctuary.  Tracy spent a whole day out here building more shelters to cover pools and food and to provide more shade.  The dogs all fell in love with him and tell me every day how much they just love that man.  Now they swim in the shade, eat in the shade and lay in the shade.  Tracy put reflective roofs on these shelters and it reflects the sun away so the dogs think they are in heaven.  Look below to the work Tracy did.
