SAGE

Sage is an incredible dog.  He did not have the best of lives and ended up in Animal Control in Missouri.  Both of his eyes had been damaged from chemicals.

A sponsor paid for his eyes to be taken and for his flight to Fort Lauderdale.  There he went into foster with Dr. Beth Wheeling to heal.  He learned much at Beth's house and she soon was a fan of the Akita breed.  Sage is a phenomenal dog.  His ability to blindly trust and love is incredible. 

Sage then made the journey to the Sanctuary where he has been spoiled.  One of his favorite things to do is to go and visit with Caitlin and Julianna.  They are the two daughters of our kennel manager.  When he is there he follows them all over.  It is incredible to watch him.  When he knows that Juliana has the lead he will not take a step until she does.  He loves these two little girls.  Sage has learned to get up and down stairs and in and out of cars.  He is extremely intelligent and learns very very fast.  At the airport there were stairs to manuever to get to the car.  It only took once for him to understand that a snap below his nose given with the command step down and a tap on the stair meant he had to go down.  We truly enjoy all the lessons this boy is teaching us.
