MEET STITCH
Stitch is a 4 week old English Mastiff puppy. He is blind and from his actions brain damaged as well. He has not , in his few short weeks on earth had a great time. His mother attacked him and bit through his ear and he has already had to have surgery to repair it. We are moving him from Maryland to Florida within the next few weeks. A lot depends on what the vet says as to how he can travel. He is a sweet little boy that is bottle fed and learning to eat on his own. Karen, his owner has done a great job in taking care of Stitch and wants him in rescue where more can be done for him. Kristel, a loving friend sent us the plea to help him, and well look at his face who can resist. Donna, Assistant Director of Tri-County Humane Society will foster him to give him the 24//7 care that he will need to continue to develop. If you would like to help us with his care see below, if you can just pray for this baby we are very very thankful. Please continue to watch this page so that you can watch Stitch grow and become the dog he is suppose to be. My love and thanks to all those involved in getting Stitch here to us and helping with him.
Our news article today from when Stitch arrived
A Happy Ending for One Little Four Week Old Boy!!!
Stitch was born to a very young mother who had too many puppies. She killed four and then attacked Stitch. She ripped his ear and bit a hole in the side of his face. Stitch is now blind and has some brain issues that need to be checked out.
Stitch is slower than his siblings and smaller. But he is getting around and eating. He can learn to map his way around if blind. What he needs is good medical attention and a lot of tests to see the extent of the damage that his mother caused him.
Palena Dorsey with Sanctuary Animal Refuge received emails about this little one and could not let it pass. Plans were then arranged for Stitch to get to Florida from Maryland. Thanks to Kristel of Maryland, who arranged for Stitch to get into rescue; Nancy Landry of Beverly Hills, Fl, who was the person who sent the emails for pleading for Stitch; Ron and Pam Ranaldi, private pilots in New Jersey who donated their time and flight, Stitch will be arriving Sunday. As Ron says he’s flying “Stitch’s Private Jet”. They will be flying into Pompano Beach Airpark on Sunday, June 1st. The Sanctuary has a fundable page for Stitch for those who want to help with his care at www.sanctuaryanimalrefuge.org/stitch.htm. It has not been an easy task to get him to safety but through the commitment of many and the dedication of rescues working with each other to make it happen has again worked in saving one life. Stitch has been taken in by Tri-COunty Humane Society and will receive his care there.
Kristel picked Stitch up on Friday. He spent two days with her waiting for the flight to bring him here. Stitch was a big hit there and Crackers their Daschund soon became the protector of this little boy falling in love with him and making sure that he was ok. Even to the point of sleeping with him. We want to make sure and thank Crackers for doing her job and babysitting Stitch with only the commitment one dog can give to another.
Donna will be Stitch’s foster mom as he needs to be bottle fed and spoon fed his softer foods and need 24 hour care. Stitch has every chance now to live a normal life even if blind thanks to the hard work of those who thought he was worth the time to save.
Stitch arrived in Pompano today. There are not enough words to thank Ron who was Stitch’s private pilot. When we walked into Anthony Aviation Ron was sitting on the couch feeding Stitch a bottle. I think that both Donna and I were like nervous moms. We watched as Ron fed him and how he was and both were so thankful that Ron had given his time and his plane to get Stitch down here on a private flight. He and Kristel were truly the heroes in this adventure and without Ron and his offer to bring Stitch to us there might not have been a beginning to our story. When Ron was finished feeding him we of course had to have our time to play with him and give us lots of hugs and kisses. This is one sweet little boy that truly does deserve a chance to grow and become the dog he is suppose to be.
We all spent time talking about how cute Stitch was and his habits etc. Ron shared with us that Stitch was a good passenger on the plane and had of course left him a present to remember him by. Ron was such a great spirit we knew that Stitch had been in good hands during that flight. We hope to stay in touch and to let Ron know that the service he provided was indeed the start of a new life for this little boy.
Donna is excited to begin her new adventure as Stitch’s foster mom as you can see from the picture to the right. She has a playpen ready for him and he will make his first doctor’s appointment tomorrow so we can fully assess just what Stitch needs to move forward. We will of course keep everyone apprised on his website, that will be updated regularly, www.sanctuaryaniamlrefuge.org/stitch.htm.
